Though
the white parts of the arrowhead flower
somewhat remind of dogwood bracts, they
are true petals of a single flower and
are cradling a single developing fruit.
As in other monocots, the magic number
with arrowheads is three. Flowers are in
whorls of threes, each having three
sepals and three petals.
