This graceful shallow-water perennial has distinctive three-foliolate leaves and scapes with bright white flowers rising from a creeping rhizome. Menyanthaceae were named after this plant, the most widespread representative of the small family. The area of the species embraces the entire Holarctic, that is, all non-tropical regions of the Northern Hemisphere.
