A plant of wet boggy habitats, broomsedge or bushy beardgrass is showing off last year's "brooms" on a wet pipeline clearing dominated by rushes and bulrushes. This grass postpones its growth until the end of the summer. Another, slender grass also displaying only last year's shoots is Schizachyrium scoparium, which can be as well treated within Andropogon.
